Who can take part

  • You must be 70 years old or older.
  • You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell cancer that cannot be removed with surgery or you choose not to have surgery, and you cannot have standard chemo with radiation.
  • You have not had any treatment for this cancer before (like surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or immunotherapy).
  • Your cancer is stage II to IVa (meaning it has not spread to distant organs).
  • You are in generally good health, with a performance status of 70 or higher on a scale from 0 to 100.
