Who can take part

  • You or your child must be under 18 years old.
  • You must have a type of epilepsy that starts in one area of the brain (focal epilepsy) that doesn't respond well to medication, or a rare type without visible brain changes on standard scans.
  • An EEG must show abnormal spikes between seizures.
  • You must be selected by the epilepsy specialist team at the hospital.
  • If you have focal epilepsy that doesn't respond to medicine, you must also need a hospital stay with electrodes placed directly on the brain (SEEG) as part of planning for surgery.
  • You must be covered by a health insurance plan.
