Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have sudden severe illness that might mean the blood supply to your bowel is blocked (bowel ischemia)
  • During surgery, the doctor finds that your bowel is not getting enough blood flow
  • You are not allergic to iodine, indocyanine green (a dye), or shellfish
  • Your liver is working normally
  • You do not have an overactive thyroid gland (thyrotoxicosis)
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are able to legally make your own decisions
