Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 6 and 17 years old.
  • They must be having orthopedic (bone or joint) surgery under general anesthesia, with a cut of at least 3 cm.
  • They should not have received bupivacaine (a numbing medicine) in the last 30 days.
  • They must not have a weakened immune system or be taking medicines that suppress immunity.
  • They must not have any mental health conditions that make communication difficult (like severe depression or schizophrenia).
  • They must not have a history of chronic pain or pain in internal organs.
