  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for a type of brain surgery called microvascular decompression
  • You have no severe heart rhythm problems
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder
  • You have not abused alcohol or been dependent on strong pain medications in the last 2 months
  • You are not allergic to numbing medicines or certain pain relievers
