Who can take part
- You are 18 or older with a new diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that is intermediate or high-risk, and you cannot have or choose not to have strong chemotherapy.
- You must be in fairly good health—able to do daily activities—with acceptable liver, kidney, and heart function.
- No history of recent bleeding problems, stroke, or major surgery, and you must not be on blood thinners.
- You must be able to swallow pills and willing to have bone marrow samples taken.
- If you can become pregnant, you must agree to use effective contraception during and for 6 months after treatment.
- You cannot have had another cancer within the last 5 years or have taken certain other AML drugs recently.
