This trial tests whether an oral curcumin supplement can help reduce pain from thumb arthritis. If you are an adult with daily thumb pain of at least moderate severity and have not taken turmeric or blood thinners, this may be an option for you.

Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older.
- You must have daily thumb pain that is between 5 and 9 out of 10, and it must have lasted for more than 30 days.
- You must have a diagnosis of thumb base joint arthritis confirmed by X-ray.
- You cannot be taking any blood-thinning medications or certain other medications (your doctor will check the list).
- You cannot have used curcumin or turmeric supplements in the past 3 months.
- You must be willing to use birth control (if you can become pregnant or father a child) during the study and for 90 days after.
