Who can take part
- You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma, confirmed by biopsy.
- After 2 to 4 rounds of induction chemo (with or without immunotherapy), your tumor is stable, has only grown in the local area, or the surgeon says it cannot be removed (with no spread to distant organs).
- You are in generally good health, with a Karnofsky score of 70 or higher, meaning you can care for yourself but may not be able to do normal activities.
- Your blood counts and organ function (kidney, liver) are within safe ranges for treatment.
