Who can take part

  • You are a child aged 18 or younger
  • You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) surgery where doctors need to check blood flow to your stomach, intestines, or urinary tract
  • You do not have serious kidney or liver problems
  • You do not have an active infection
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder
  • You do not have a complex heart defect you were born with
  • You are not allergic to ICG or other iodine-based dyes
  • You do not have an overactive thyroid or thyroid nodules
  • If you are a baby, you are not premature or needing a blood exchange transfusion
  • You are not taking medicines that contain sodium bisulphite (like some heparin products)
