Who can take part

  • You must be 40 years old or older.
  • You have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) that is moderate to very severe, or interstitial lung disease (ILD) that has been diagnosed for more than 6 months.
  • Your lung condition has been stable for at least the past 4 weeks (no recent flare-ups).
  • You should not have recently completed a pulmonary rehabilitation program (within the past year).
  • You cannot take part if you have certain other health problems, like unstable heart disease, severe joint or nerve conditions, or if you weigh more than 130 kg (about 287 lbs).
  • Depending on the study group, you may not be able to participate if you use oxygen therapy (for the gas analysis part).
