Who can take part

  • Your baby has jaundice that is not normal and needs light therapy (phototherapy).
  • Your baby's bilirubin level (a blood test for jaundice) must be between 5 and 15 mg/dL.
  • Your baby must not have kernicterus (brain damage from jaundice).
  • Your baby must not have a history of Rh incompatibility (a blood type problem between mother and baby).
  • Your baby must not have serious health issues like breathing problems, heart failure, or lack of oxygen at birth.
