Comparing two medicines with light therapy for newborn jaundice

Who can take part

  • Your baby must be between 24 hours and 14 days old.
  • Your baby must have been born at full term (37 to 42 weeks of pregnancy).
  • Your baby must weigh at least 5.5 pounds (2500 grams) at birth.
  • Your baby's jaundice must be the common, non-serious type (called physiologic) and not caused by blood type issues or other health problems.
  • Your baby's bilirubin level must be between 15 and 20 mg/dL and need light therapy.
  • You or your baby's legal guardian must agree to the trial in writing.
