Who can take part

  • You are having abdominal surgery with a cut (incision) that is at least 5 cm long (or a cut where a camera or tool was removed through the belly wall).
  • The surgery is either an emergency (unplanned) or planned (elective) procedure.
  • Your surgery is considered 'clean-contaminated', 'contaminated', or 'dirty' – for example, surgery on the bowel or with visible infection or pus.
  • You are willing and able to provide written consent (or a fingerprint if needed) before surgery.
  • You are at least 5 years old (age requirements may vary by country).
  • If you are having a C-section or other obstetric (pregnancy-related) procedure, this trial is not for you.
