Brain training for memory and thinking with HIV

HIV-associated Neurocognitive Disorders

This study tests if two types of computer-based brain exercises can help improve memory, thinking, and daily function in people living with HIV who have mild mental slowdowns. Participants will do about 10 hours of one brain game and 10 sessions of another over 5 weeks.

Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 50 years old
  • You have at least 8 years of formal education
  • You speak Xhosa fluently
  • You have HIV and are on antiretroviral therapy (ART)
  • You are willing to attend brain testing and training sessions over 5 weeks
  • You do not have serious brain conditions like schizophrenia, epilepsy, or bipolar disorder
