Blood and skin sample collection for mitochondrial disease

Who can take part

  • You are between 3 and 85 years old.
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of primary mitochondrial disease (tested by DNA sequencing), or you are a healthy volunteer with no active medical conditions.
  • You have not had a viral or bacterial illness, antibiotics, antivirals, or a blood transfusion in the past 2 weeks.
  • You are not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and you drink less than 2 alcoholic drinks per day.
  • You have not used recreational drugs, tobacco, or nicotine products in the past year.
  • You have not had a stem cell transplant or gene therapy in the past.
