Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must be able to understand and sign a consent form.
  • You are scheduled to have a precancerous growth removed from your esophagus.
  • The growth must be on the surface (mucosal) and at or above where the esophagus meets the stomach.
  • No doctor has already tried to remove the growth with a scope.
  • You must not have bleeding problems (like high INR or low platelets).
