Who can take part
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You are expected to need a breathing machine (ventilator) for more than 24 hours, and you have already started calming medicine.
- You have been on the breathing machine and sedated for no more than 12 hours before arriving in the ICU.
- You do not regularly take strong painkillers like morphine or fentanyl.
- You do not have severe liver or kidney failure, serious brain injury, or a known allergy to morphine or fentanyl.
