Who can take part
- You must be an approved donor for the University Hospital Southampton donor milk bank.
- You need to have enough breast milk to give 120 ml for the study without affecting your baby's intake.
- For mothers of inpatients: your baby must be in the neonatal unit, pediatric ward, or PICU and receiving your breast milk.
- For phase 2: your baby’s birth weight must be between 1 kg and 1.8 kg.
- For phase 2: your baby must be fully on fortified breast milk feeds (≥150 ml/kg/day) for at least 48 hours.
