Breath test for women with suspicious breast ultrasound findings

This study collects breath samples from women with suspicious breast ultrasound findings (BI-RADS 4) before surgery to see if certain chemicals in the breath can help identify cancer. If you are scheduled for surgery soon, your breath may help researchers find a new way to screen for breast cancer.

Who can take part

  • You are a woman with a suspicious finding on breast ultrasound (rated BI-RADS 4a, 4b, or 4c) in the past 3 months
  • You are scheduled for surgery within one week after providing a breath sample
  • You have not been diagnosed with breast cancer by a needle biopsy already
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have not smoked in the past year
  • You do not have a history of other cancers, metabolic diseases (like diabetes or gout), respiratory diseases (like asthma or COPD), or digestive issues (like stomach ulcers or H. pylori infection)
