Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are able to understand and sign a consent form for the study.
  • You are scheduled for a surgery to remove one or both fallopian tubes and ovaries, or an ovarian cyst (salpingo-oophorectomy, salpingectomy, or ovarian cystectomy).
  • You have not had a previous surgery that cut your abdomen open from the belly button down (midline laparotomy).
  • You do not have chronic pain, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, or advanced gynecological cancer (beyond stage 1).
  • Your BMI is under 50, and you can communicate in a language the study team speaks.
