Who can take part

  • You have ulcerative colitis and are at least 12 years old (Tanner stage 4 for teens).
  • Your weight is over 40 kg (about 88 pounds).
  • Your ulcerative colitis is active (either symptoms or a high level of inflammation in your stool).
  • Your medications for colitis have been stable for at least 3 months.
  • You are not currently taking antibiotics, probiotics, or fibre supplements that affect your gut (except in foods).
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study.
  • You have no other serious health conditions, recent abdominal surgery, or conditions that make swallowing difficult.
