This trial studies how fiber affects calcium absorption in older men. If you are a male Veteran aged 60 or older and don't have certain health conditions or take specific medications, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are a male Veteran aged 60 or older.
  • You do not have a history of problems absorbing nutrients (malabsorption).
  • You are not currently taking medications that affect calcium metabolism or daily proton pump inhibitors.
  • You have not used antibiotics, probiotics, or prebiotics in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have certain health conditions like high blood calcium, low vitamin D, advanced kidney disease, or very low testosterone.
