Comparing two pain blocks after open heart surgery (Trial)

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for heart surgery through a cut in the breastbone (sternotomy).
  • You are generally healthy or have mild to severe but stable health issues (ASA class I, II, or III).
  • You are not taking blood thinners (like warfarin) and do not have a bleeding problem.
  • You have no infection where the numbing injection would be given.
  • You are not allergic to local anesthetics (numbing medicines).
