Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are having a mastectomy (full breast removal) with or without lymph node or reconstruction surgery.
- You have breast cancer or a high risk for it (like a precancerous lesion, BRCA mutation, or strong family history).
- You are not having only a partial mastectomy or a certain type of reconstruction (tissue-based).
- You do not have an allergy to local anesthetics (except some topical ones are okay).
- You do not have an active opioid prescription in the last month or a history of opioid use disorder.
