Who can take part
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You are scheduled to have a total knee replacement using spinal anesthesia.
- You are awake, alert, and able to follow instructions.
- You do not have a history of chronic constipation diagnosed by a doctor.
- You do not have belly problems like inflammatory bowel disease, tumors, or previous surgery or radiation to your belly area.
- You are able to get up and walk (mobilized) and can eat and drink by mouth without issues.
