Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You agree to take part in the study (sign a consent form).
  • Your doctor has scheduled you for an ERCP (a scope procedure to look at your bile duct).
  • Your blood clotting is normal (INR below 1.5) and your platelet count is above 50,000.
  • You have not had a prior endoscopic sphincterotomy (a cut in the bile duct opening).
  • Your bile duct is easy to reach with a scope (no blockages or past stomach surgery that would prevent it).
  • You do not have pancreas divisum (a natural variation in pancreas anatomy).
  • Your ERCP is for a bile duct problem, not just for a pancreatic duct issue.
