Can scan findings predict colorectal cancer spread?

Colo-rectal Cancer

This study looks at whether signs of blood vessel involvement (called EMVI) seen on scans can predict if colorectal cancer spreads to other organs. You might join if you already had surgery to remove the cancer from the colon or rectum and any distant tumors, and your before-surgery scans are available for review.

Who can take part

  • You are 16 years old or older and have colorectal cancer.
  • Your colon or rectum with the cancer has been removed during surgery.
  • You have also had surgery to remove any cancer that spread to other parts of your body (like the liver or lungs).
  • You had a CT or MRI scan before your surgery that is available for the study team to review.
  • Your primary tumor did not completely disappear after treatment (no complete response).
  • You have enough tissue from your surgery to study in the lab.
