This study tests whether omega-3 (fish oil–type) changes how your body fat responds when you are exposed to cold. It may help researchers understand how to regulate “brown fat,” which can be involved in how your body uses energy during cold.
This study tests whether brief, repeated exposure to cold can increase your body's 'brown fat,' a type of fat that burns energy and may help with metabolism. Healthy volunteers will undergo controlled cooling sessions and imaging scans to measure changes in their brown fat activity.
This study tests whether a high-energy diet helps military personnel perform better in cold weather. Participants will follow special diets and do exercise tests in a cold environment.
This trial tests if carefully controlled cold or heat exposure can help lower symptoms of depression. It is open to people with or without depression to see how the body responds to changes in temperature.
This study tests whether regularly using passive heat can lower your systolic blood pressure (the top number) and improve how your blood vessels work. If you’re eligible, you may be randomly assigned to try the heat therapy as a 6-month program.
This trial tests whether taking a cold shower or swim affects how you make decisions. You'll be exposed to cold water and then complete decision-making tasks.
