Who can take part

  • Your child must be between 8 and 18 years old.
  • Your child must have end-stage kidney disease and be on regular hemodialysis using a working arteriovenous fistula (AVF).
  • Your child must be fully alert and aware of time, people, and place.
  • Your child must be feeling anxious, depressed, or both.
  • Your child cannot use a temporary or permanent catheter for dialysis.
  • Your child cannot have a mental illness, or problems with vision or hearing.
  • Your child cannot be taking any pain relievers or antipsychotic drugs.
