Comparing targeted plus standard biopsies for prostate cancer diagnosis

This trial tests whether adding a targeted biopsy to a standard sextant biopsy improves the detection of prostate cancer. It is for men aged 45 to 85 who have a suspicious spot on an MRI of their prostate and have not had a biopsy before.

Who can take part

  • You are between 45 and 85 years old.
  • You have never had a prostate biopsy before.
  • You have a single suspicious spot on your prostate MRI, scored PI-RADS 3 or higher.
  • You meet standard guidelines for needing a biopsy, such as a high PSA level or suspicious exam findings.
  • Your MRI and biopsy are done within one month of each other.
  • You have not had any prior prostate cancer treatments like radiation, chemotherapy, or hormone therapy.
