Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You must have been diagnosed with PTSD by a doctor using standard criteria.
  • Your PTSD symptoms must be severe (score of 50 or higher on a standard PTSD scale).
  • Your symptoms must have lasted at least one year and not improved after trying at least four different treatments, including an antidepressant and therapy.
  • You cannot have current or past psychosis or mania, active epilepsy, or recent alcohol or drug abuse.
  • You must be able to undergo MRI and PET scans and surgery, and not be pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study.
