Who can take part

  • You are 16 years or older and have a chest injury from an accident or trauma, not from a medical condition.
  • You have a chest injury such as broken ribs, a bruised lung, a collapsed lung (pneumothorax), or blood in the chest cavity (hemothorax).
  • The injury may involve only your chest or also other parts of your body.
  • You are willing to give consent (or have a legal guardian who agrees) to join the study.
  • You do not have a serious health problem like advanced cancer, end-stage organ failure, or a severe brain injury that would affect the outcome.
