  • Your child must have biliary atresia (a liver bile duct problem from birth).
  • They need to have a Kasai surgery to open the bile ducts.
  • No major heart, kidney, lung, or brain problems.
  • No sickle cell anemia or similar blood diseases.
  • No active infection when starting the study.
