Who can take part

  • You have head and neck cancer that has come back or spread, and you haven't had chemotherapy or other systemic therapy for this stage yet.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have at least one tumor that can be measured on scans.
  • You are in good overall health (ECOG performance status 0 or 1) and expected to live at least 3 months.
  • Your blood counts and kidney/liver function are within certain limits (hemoglobin, neutrophils, platelets, creatinine, bilirubin, liver enzymes, and albumin).
  • Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test and use reliable contraception.
