  • You have had type 2 diabetes for at least 6 months
  • You have not been in a structured exercise program for the past 6 months
  • You are willing to take part in the study
  • You do not have serious kidney or eye problems from diabetes
  • You do not have dementia, Alzheimer's, or use a walking aid
  • You do not have severe heart or blood vessel conditions or a recent heart attack or stroke
