  • You are between 20 and 50 years old
  • You are having ear, nose, or throat surgery and are in good general health (ASA I or II)
  • You do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure, certain heart conditions, bleeding problems, or liver or kidney disease
  • You are not currently taking a beta blocker or clonidine
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are not allergic to the medications used in the study
