  • You are having a total hip replacement surgery
  • You do not have bone cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, or a blood disorder
  • You do not have avascular necrosis (bone death) in your hip
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be within the study's allowed range
  • You can read and speak English
