ADHD brain scan study: medications and attention

This study looks at how stimulant medications and small movements during an fMRI brain scan affect attention in teens and adults with ADHD. You will be asked to do a computer task while in the scanner, and the results may help improve ADHD treatments.

Who can take part

  • You are 12 years old or older.
  • You have a diagnosis of ADHD (with or without anxiety).
  • You take a stable dose of methylphenidate (e.g., Ritalin) or an amphetamine (e.g., Adderall) that hasn't changed in the last month.
  • You can follow verbal and written instructions in your native language.
  • You do not have autism, OCD, a known brain abnormality, or a visual problem that would prevent testing.
  • You are able to have an fMRI scan (no metal in your body, no claustrophobia, etc.).
