Bone Density Measurement Using a Full-Spine X-ray

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a full-spine or whole-body X-ray to check your bones or spine before surgery.
  • You are at least 20 years old and can give your consent to participate.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is below 35.
  • You do not have metal implants, rods, screws, or other hardware in your lower back or hips.
  • You are not pregnant or planning to become pregnant, and haven't had contrast dye or radioactive tracers in the past week.
  • You can stand or lie still and hold the correct position for the X-ray scan.
