Who can take part
- You are 18 or older and have been diagnosed with advanced clear cell or translocation kidney cancer that has spread (stage IV).
- You have already tried at least two different types of cancer treatment, including an immunotherapy (like nivolumab or pembrolizumab) and a targeted therapy (like sunitinib or pazopanib), and your cancer continued to grow.
- You must be able to swallow pills and have adequate organ function (kidney, liver, blood counts) as determined by standard blood tests.
- You cannot have had prior treatment with abemaciclib or cabozantinib, and you cannot have untreated brain metastases, active heart problems, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
- You must agree to use effective contraception if you are of childbearing potential, and not donate sperm or eggs during the study and for 4 months after.
