Who can take part
- You must have advanced stomach or GEJ cancer that cannot be surgically removed and has spread, confirmed by a biopsy.
- You cannot have had any previous chemotherapy or other cancer drugs for advanced disease (prior chemo before surgery is okay if cancer did not return for at least 6 months).
- You must have at least one tumor that can be measured on scans.
- You must be in fairly good health (able to care for yourself, with adequate blood counts, liver and kidney function).
- You cannot have had other cancer in the last 5 years (except certain cured skin, cervix, or thyroid cancers).
- You cannot have uncontrolled infections, heart problems, or HIV (if well-controlled HIV is okay).
