Woodsmoke, flu, and your nasal immune response

This study tests how breathing woodsmoke affects your nose's ability to fight off the flu virus. You will be exposed to woodsmoke and then given a live flu vaccine to see how your immune system responds.

Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 49 years old.
  • You must have normal lung function, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.
  • You must not have any chronic illnesses like diabetes, asthma, or heart disease.
  • You must not smoke or use any inhaled substances (medical or recreational).
  • You must not have had woodsmoke exposure in the last 3 weeks.
  • You must not have had flu-like symptoms or a recent respiratory infection within the past 3 weeks.
