Who can take part
- You are having open abdominal surgery with a cut down the middle of your belly that will be closed later, not right away.
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You have not had a previous hernia repair using mesh in that same belly area.
- You do not have a hernia in the belly area that is wider than 2 cm before surgery.
- Your doctor expects you to live at least 6 months.
- You are not pregnant.
