Who can take part

  • You are an adult and agree to have surgery using a robotic system called Symani.
  • You need a microsurgery to connect tiny blood vessels (for a free flap) or to treat lymphedema (chronic swelling).
  • If you have lymphedema in an arm or leg, the swelling must not go away completely with compression therapy, and you must have been using compression for at least 4 weeks.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be 35 or less.
  • You are not pregnant, have no serious bleeding disorders, no pacemaker, and no severe kidney disease.
