- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that has spread to nearby lymph nodes or nearby tissues but can still be surgically removed.
- You have not had any prior treatment for esophageal cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, or immunotherapy.
- You are in generally good health, able to perform daily activities (ECOG score 0-1).
- Your kidney, liver, and bone marrow function are within acceptable ranges based on blood tests.
