Who can take part

  • You are between 21 and 55 years old and fluent in English.
  • You have a score of 20 or higher on the AUDIT alcohol screening test (meaning you have significant alcohol-related problems).
  • You are willing and able to attend all six testing sessions.
  • You do not have a history of serious head injury, brain surgery, epilepsy, seizures, or other major neurological or psychiatric conditions (other than alcohol use disorder).
  • You do not have metal implants (like a pacemaker, aneurysm clip, or hip replacement), and are not pregnant or planning pregnancy.
  • In the 24 hours before each session, you must not have had more than four alcoholic drinks, recreational drugs, or antibiotics.
