Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You have been scheduled for open liver surgery to remove a tumor (hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, liver metastasis, or a benign malignant tumor).
  • Your physical health status (ASA) is classified as I, II, or III, meaning you are generally healthy or have mild to moderate health issues.
  • Your tumor is not larger than 10 cm (about 4 inches).
  • You have not had a previous liver resection (surgery to remove part of the liver).
  • You do not have severe heart, brain, or kidney problems, and your blood clotting is normal.
