tACS brain stimulation for teens with self-harm

Self-Injurious Behavior

This trial tests if a gentle brain stimulation technique called tACS (transcranial alternating current stimulation) can help reduce non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) in teens. If you are 12-21 and have had at least 5 self-harm episodes in the past year with one in the last month, you may be eligible.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI).
  • You have had 5 or more self-harm events in the past year and at least one in the past month.
  • You are between 12 and 21 years old.
  • Your parent or legal guardian agrees to the study if you are under 15.
  • You have not taken any psychiatric medication or had previous brain stimulation treatments.
