Lying on left side for fetal growth restriction

Fetal Growth Restriction

This study tests if lying on your left side can help improve blood flow and oxygen for babies with fetal growth restriction (FGR), a condition where the baby is smaller than expected. If you are pregnant with one baby, between 24 and 34 weeks, and your baby is in the bottom 10% for weight, you may qualify.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 65 years old and pregnant.
  • Your baby has been diagnosed with fetal growth restriction, meaning the baby's weight is less than the 10th percentile.
  • You are between 24 and 34 weeks pregnant with a single baby.
  • You can speak English or Spanish.
  • You do not have a history of blood clots, clotting disorders, or a body mass index (BMI) over 40 before pregnancy.
  • You are not smoking during pregnancy and do not have signs of severe umbilical cord problems on ultrasound.
