Who can take part
- You are 55 years of age or older
- You have a specific type of age-related macular degeneration (called AREDS category 3) in at least one eye
- Your vision in the study eye is not too poor (20/32 or better) and you need only mild glasses or contacts
- You have not had eye surgery, injections, or laser treatment in the study eye within the past 3 months
- You have not taken lutein or zeaxanthin supplements or any other eye health supplements in the last month
- You do not have serious eye problems like glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, or dry eye in the study eye
